History
Stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) is the origin of modern surfing. Polynesian kings were the first to ride waves standing up, using large wooden boards and a paddle.
In the 1940s, Duke Kahanamoku and the Waikiki Beach Boys in Hawaii used this type of board to take photos of tourists in the lineup or to surf smaller waves.
In the 2000s, Laird Hamilton and Dave Kalama revived the sport, using SUP to maintain their waterman physiques on days without waves, and gradually progressing to larger waves. You can also enjoy a meal or simply relax on our base’s private beach.
Stand-up paddleboard rentals are available for half-day sessions (3 hours). We welcome you to our canoe and kayak rental base, equip you with paddle life jackets and small dry bags, and then take you by shuttle (approximately 5 minutes) to a large, calm, and deep section of the Hérault River. There, you can enjoy paddleboarding on pebble beaches and swimming (whether you choose to go or not). You can also explore the wildlife and flora of the Hérault gorges in a magnificent setting.
At the end of your activity, we will return you to your vehicles using the same shuttle service.
Several disciplines
Paddling or touring is the simplest way to start stand-up paddleboarding (SUP). It involves using a hard or inflatable board to navigate on calm water, enjoying the sport. Stand-up paddleboarding is also used for fishing; it’s very simple: a wide, stable board, a fishing rod, and a body of water, whether it’s a lake, a river, or the sea.
Who can do Stand-up Paddleboarding?
Everyone, from 7 to 77 years old, whether male or female. Its growing popularity proves it every day, as more and more of us are out on the water. Many surfers enjoy stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) because it’s a way to stay in shape on days without waves and to experience new gliding sensations. Women, on the other hand, tend to prefer the leisurely, cardio-focused aspect of paddleboarding to maintain their fitness.
Equipement
Nothing could be simpler: a board, a paddle, a leash, and a good mood. If you’re going on long trips at sea or fishing, it’s advisable to wear a life jacket and carry a waterproof pouch with your mobile phone, water, and energy bars. In cold water, a wetsuit is also a good idea to extend the fun.
